"What Remains"—Innocent Civilians in Ukraine (March and April 2022)

In Ukraine, as in all wars, the civilians are being affected most unfairly—targeted by ruthless Russian airstrikes consistently—and taking the brunt of war's "collateral" damage. In cities throughout the country, from the capital of Kyiv to the major city of Kharkiv, a mere 25km from the Russian border, and all small towns in between innocent civilians have been killed and their homes reduced to rubble in a fear-instilling ploy by Russia, wreaking humanitarian havoc across the country. Despite the cruel attacks on civilians many brave Ukrainian souls have decided to stay. Russia has undoubtedly committed war crimes, yet many civilians remain proud and defiant, on the frontlines, trying to live as normally as possible in a fight to demonstrate their freedom and independence as a country.
